We’re excited to share that Decoded has been approved to deliver the AI Leadership Apprenticeship Units. These new units are designed to help leaders build practical AI understanding and apply it to real organisational decisions across strategy, adoption, governance and transformation. While full programme details are still being finalised, we wanted to share an early overview and invite expressions of interest from organisations exploring how to build AI leadership capability.
The AI Leadership Apprenticeship Units are designed for leaders responsible for setting direction, making investment decisions and overseeing the responsible use of AI in their organisation.
They offer a focused route to build AI leadership literacy across three core units: AI Strategy & Opportunity, AI Adoption, Procurement & Governance, and AI Delivery & Organisational Transformation. Together, these units develop practical capability in identifying opportunities, making informed decisions and delivering AI-enabled change.
They are particularly relevant for organisations moving beyond early experimentation, where leaders need the capability to turn AI potential into practical, operational impact.
Price: £750 per unit
Training hours: 30 hours per unit
Level: 5 Apprenticeship Unit
Audience: Leaders with responsibility for technological change, investment decisions and AI oversight

AI Strategy & Opportunity
This unit focuses on building understanding of AI capabilities, limitations and strategic opportunities. It supports leaders in identifying where AI can create value and how it aligns with organisational priorities.
AI Adoption, Procurement & Governance
This unit focuses on evaluating AI solutions, shaping adoption decisions and establishing appropriate governance and assurance approaches. It supports leaders in making informed, responsible choices about AI systems and suppliers.
AI Delivery & Organisational Transformation
This unit focuses on the safe and effective delivery of AI-enabled change. It supports leaders in integrating AI into organisational processes and ensuring it is adopted successfully across teams and ways of working.
These units are designed for individuals in leadership roles who need to strengthen their understanding of AI in order to guide strategy, governance, adoption and organisational change.
They may be particularly relevant for those involved in:
– AI strategy and opportunity identification
– Technology investment and decision-making
– Procurement and business case development
– Governance, oversight and assurance
– Organisational change and transformation
– Responsible AI adoption
The units develop leadership capability in:
– Identifying where AI can create value and prioritising opportunities within the organisation
– Developing business cases and informing investment decisions for AI initiatives
– Evaluating AI solutions and procurement options with confidence
– Establishing governance and assurance approaches for responsible AI use
– Overseeing the implementation of AI solutions within organisational processes
– Supporting the adoption of AI across teams and ways of working
These are the capabilities organisations need to move from experimentation to practical, responsible AI adoption.
Learners must:
– Be employed in a leadership position with autonomy to deliver technological change and inform investment decisions
– Be working at least 50% of their working week in England
– Not be in full-time education or studying another training programme
– Be aged 19 or older
– Meet the residency requirements
