What Does Quality Look Like in Training?

Richard Peters, CEO at Decoded, shares how training quality is defined, delivered and measured, and why a clear, purposeful approach to learning is essential for driving real-world results.

At Decoded, we’ve spent over a decade delivering high impact training to thousands of learners across the globe. And one theme comes up again and again: quality. Everyone wants it, but few define it clearly.

In our view, quality training isn’t about perfection, it’s about purpose. Are we solving real problems for learners? Are we making skills stick? Are we helping people do their jobs better?

What Training Quality Means to Us

So here’s how we define quality at Decoded:

It’s personalised
A great session starts before the learner walks in. We invest time understanding the audience, what they already know, what they need to know, and how they prefer to learn. It’s not one-size-fits-all, because no two organisations (or learners) are the same.

It’s applied
Every session is grounded in practical, real-world scenarios. We ask ourselves: “Will this help someone make a better decision at work tomorrow?” If the answer is no, we cut it. We’re not here to impress with jargon. We’re here to make change happen.

It’s alive
Great content falls flat without great delivery. Our facilitators don’t just present slides, they read the room, respond to the energy, and flex in the moment. It’s why we rehearse, iterate, and treat every delivery as a performance designed to land.

It’s supported
Learning doesn’t end when the workshop does. We’ve built post-session help desks, follow-up resources, and open Q&A platforms to make sure skills stick. It’s about creating momentum, not just moments.

It’s measured
We’re ruthless about tracking what matters. Satisfaction scores are only the start. We look at skill uplift, learner confidence, project outcomes, and even long-term behavioural change. It’s not about checking boxes, it’s about creating impact, the true measure of training quality.

You won’t find us overengineering for the sake of it. We believe in using simple, effective tools. Speaking clearly. Listening closely. And designing for outcomes, not optics.

This is how we define quality, not as a buzzword, but as a blueprint.

Over the next six weeks, we’re going to explore what quality means across every part of the Decoded learning journey, from satisfaction scores to facilitation, measurement, and more.
