The AI & Data Technician Level 3 apprenticeship equips learners to prepare, analyse, visualise and communicate data at work, using AI-augmented tools to improve insight and decision-making safely and responsibly. You’ll learn through hands-on practice using your organisation’s approved data and AI toolset across blended workshops, practical tasks and coaching, and graduate with practical evidence of your skills. The result is faster insight, responsible adoption and measurable business impact.
Designed for professionals in any team, with or without technical experience, who work with data as part of their role and want to build AI into their day-to-day work. This includes analysing reports, maintaining dashboards, preparing metrics and communicating insights more effectively using AI-augmented tools.

Apply descriptive statistics and hypothesis-led thinking to real datasets. Use generative AI to surface patterns, explore trends and accelerate analysis, with clear checks to verify outputs and avoid over-reliance. This leads to more confident, evidence-based decisions.
Learn how to collate, reshape and clean data for analysis. Apply the four Cs (Completeness, Consistency, Currency and Correctness) and use effective GenAI prompting to speed transformation without compromising quality. The result is analysis built on reliable foundations.
Turn data into clear, audience-appropriate charts and visuals. Use narrative-first design principles and AI support to refine chart choices and structure the story. The outcome is insight that is easy to understand and act on.

Scope and plan data projects that deliver clear business value. Use GenAI-assisted documentation and compliance-ready templates to define success measures, risks and governance from the outset.
Connect and combine data from multiple sources using basic SQL, JSON and low-code connectors. Learn how AI services and APIs support more flexible, scalable analysis across tools and platforms.
Automate routine reporting and workflows using low-code tools and AI agent principles, such as Power Automate. Apply pseudocode thinking and explore the ethical limits of automation, so efficiency gains never come at the expense of quality or trust.
This apprenticeship is designed to adapt as AI tools evolve. While delivery is typically anchored in the Microsoft ecosystem, including Excel, Power BI, Copilot and Power Automate, the underlying concepts are tool-agnostic and transferable to your preferred platforms. Training is aligned to your organisation’s approved technology stack and governance requirements.
– You are responsible for collecting and processing data within your organisation.
– Living and working in the UK or EEA for at least three years.*
– You have the right to work in the UK and will spend at least 50% of your working time in England throughout the duration of the programme.
– Working 30+ hours per week (part-time roles may qualify with sufficient cohort size).
– Able to allocate at least 6 hours per week for off-the-job learning throughout the 13-month programme.
– Must not be currently pursuing any other government-funded schemes including student loan funded programmes.
