As we approach the festive season, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the meaningful contributions Decoded has made throughout the year.
Our volunteering policy, introduced in April 2024, encourages team members to actively support charitable causes, benefiting both the community and their personal development.
The initiative allows each team member to dedicate two days per year – or smaller increments of their time – to charitable and community activities. This policy not only drives positive change in the communities we support, but also helps cultivate a vibrant, compassionate workplace culture.
Nicky Kirshen – Trustee for Causeway Education
Our Managing Director, Nicky, lends her expertise to Causeway Education, an organisation dedicated to breaking down barriers to education for young people from less privileged backgrounds. As a trustee, Nicky attends quarterly board meetings, offering strategic advice and guidance to support the charity’s operations and objectives. Through her involvement, Nicky helps empower young people to achieve their full potential and aspire to educational opportunities that might have seemed out of reach.
Joshua Chesterman – Volunteer at Focus 2024
In July, Joshua, our Head of Quality, volunteered at Focus 2024, an event hosted by his church network, with 8,000 attendees, including 1,000 young people. Joshua was part of the Youth Team, responsible for safeguarding and supporting participants. The event also welcomed refugees from Ukraine, offering them a space to connect and find joy. Joshua reflected on the event as a blend of meaningful impact and fun – complete with an inflatable assault course!
Lizzy Johnson – Organiser for Blaze Trails
Client Director Lizzy combines her organisational skills and love for the outdoors by coordinating walks for Blaze Trails, a group that empowers parents to embrace nature with their children. Lizzy plans and promotes local walks that provide a space for parents to connect, share experiences, and enjoy the mental health benefits of the great outdoors. Babies often nap during these excursions, creating a perfect environment for parents to recharge and bond.
As we reflect on the year, it’s clear that the Decoded team’s volunteer efforts have made a tangible difference in many communities. We’re excited to continue supporting these initiatives into 2025, with more opportunities for our team to give back and create positive change.
We look forward to sharing more stories of impact in the future as we continue to support causes that matter to our team and the wider community.
