“Working with data is a key part of my role. Undertaking the Data Analyst apprenticeship seemed like the ideal opportunity to become more proficient and productive in that part of my role and hopefully to gain some modern, transferable skills that are useful from a wider career perspective.

I already had a little self-taught knowledge in some of the programme topics. But receiving formal, structured instruction across a range of topics, coupled with the opportunity to practice and then apply the skills, helped me to fill in the gaps, learn proper industry terminology and get exposure to areas where I was less knowledgeable. For example, I can now use Python programming for data analysis and employ best practices for effective visualisation.

Using my new skills I am able to perform more sophisticated analysis than I could do previously and uncover insight that might not have been apparent otherwise. For example, I have been able to carry out meaningful risk-assessments underpinned by relevant data and to develop proof-of-concept models in support of risk-mitigating control implementations.”
